The Campus Activities Board is composed of 10 Directors with committees who plan and promote activities for students and the community. The Directors are students appointed by SGA members each spring, which is also elected in the spring. All members must maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average while in office. Activities provided by the CAB include concerts, lectures, comedy and musical acts, the Ms. Murray State Pageant, Homecoming parade and events, spontaneous events in the Curris Center, plus much more.

Campus Lights was established in 1938 to fund the charter of the Gamma Delta chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. After the chapter established itself, the brothers of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia decided to make the production an annual tradition. ​When the Second World War began, the brothers were called to serve their country. During the war, the sisters of the Iota Beta chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota continued the cherished tradition of Campus Lights. The production entitled Campus Dim Out honored the men fighting in the war. Upon their return, the two chapters combined efforts to continue the Murray State University tradition that we know and love today.
Today, the proceeds of Campus Lights are presented to the Music Department for a scholarship fund. Over the years, the production has evolved from variety and student-written shows to Broadway-style productions.

Obtaining an undergraduate or graduated degree in History will allow students to develop a number of skills—including thinking analytically; evaluating, organizing, and synthesizing evidence to construct meaningful narratives; and communicating them clearly orally and in writing—that are highly applicable across a range of career paths. History majors go on to become educators, archivists, researchers, lawyers, television and film writers, business leaders, and government officials. History opens a door and you decide what career lies on the other side.

At Murray State University, the Department of History offers a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in History as well as a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in History with Social Studies Certification for the secondary classroom (8–12). Majors begin with a foundation of global history and United States history and then complete upper-level courses in United States History, Global History, and European History. By graduation, students have encountered a range of approaches to history as well as produced their own historical research. The department also offers minors in History and Religious Studies.
The Master of Arts program in history offers advanced studies to qualified students in American, European and World History. The M.A. enables teachers to meet Rank II certification in Kentucky public schools or prepare them for graduate or law school or a wide range of careers.

To teach members basic fencing skills that will provide them with the resources to compete in tournaments at the collegiate level and beyond, all while maintaining a positive and encouraging atmosphere for all members.

The Murray State Fencing Club teaches members how to fence three different styles of fencing: foil, épée, and saber. This club is a great way to learn a new sport and allows fencers the opportunity to compete against each other and in various competitions across the state. Meetings are Monday and Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in 209 Carr Hall. All equipment is supplied, and no experience is required to join!

The goal of the Murray State Residential College System is to provide engaging communities for the Murray State resident and commuter students. Richmond College is named in honor of James H. Richmond, the university's 3rd president. From 1936 until 1945 it was known as the Murray State Teachers College. Richmond Hall became known as Richmond College when the university established the campus-wide residential college system in 1996. Murray State was the first public university in the nation with a successful, comprehensive residential college program.

The Campus Activities Board is composed of 10 Directors with committees who plan and promote activities for students and the community. The Directors are students appointed by SGA members each spring, which is also elected in the spring. All members must maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average while in office. Activities provided by the CAB include concerts, lectures, comedy and musical acts, the Ms. Murray State Pageant, Homecoming parade and events, spontaneous events in the Curris Center, plus much more.

The Judicial Board is the judicial body of SGA. To be one of the ten members, applicants must have at least sophomore status, a 2.5 grade point average and not be an officer or member of any other branch of SGA. These positions are appointed in April of each year. At its meetings, the board reviews parking tickets and hears appeals.

Forty-six senators comprise the Student Senate: three from each of the seven academic colleges, and two from each of the eight residential colleges, eight “at-large” senators elected through a campus-wide online election each April and two freshman senators elected in September by the freshman class. Aside from passing legislation at its weekly meetings, the Student Senate provides informational brochures, voter registration and a campus voice (student regent) to the board of regents. To qualify as a senator, you must maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point standing during the term of office.

Within the Student Senate there are several leadership positions available known as Senate Directors. The Senate Directors are the chairpersons for the standing Senate Committees: University Affairs, Election Ways and Means, Government Relations, Public Relations and Diversity and Inclusion. Each Senate Director runs a committee of Senators that help investigate issues, create legislation, and work on ways to better campus through their respective areas. The individual that oversees the Senate Directors is the Chief of Staff, which is selected by the President to serve at their will.
